I live next door to a run down falling apart apt house that is not being taken care of, grasses and building parts dropping. I was told it is owned by an out of town person. We must enforce our codes, and require them to fix and use the property, tear it down, or the city can condemn it and sell it, take it, or raise it.

I moved here a year ago and still cannot located all the events going on in the metro area. We need 1. ONE online maintained city calendar and events place to go to, and 2)a city wide weekly email to all ciitizens and interested parties with the gov't info, meeting info, road closings, updates, and events. there are just too many entities duplicating and not focused on mutual economic development.

There is a team of us who have been commissioned and destined to save the Town Clock Church (on Bedford St.) from imminent deconstruction and demolition. The Town Clock has been a staple landmark for the community for over a hundred years and has been a beacon of hope and a place of healing since the Civil War era. This same building was used to house and treat wounded Civil war soldiers, so we are determined to preserve this iconic historical landmark. The church was closed down several years ago after the congregation dwindled down to 8 members. We are aspiring to revive the church building's infrastructure and the heart of the community through the reconstruction of the church and renaming it "The Healing Church." We will bring a new modern and innovative touch to the church without losing the historical elements that make the Town Clock Church vital to the history of Cumberland.
Please reach out to me for more details and a layout of this important mission. Let's connect! Thanks!

We aren't asking for much just that they leave his Memorial Pole where he was murdered just under 2 months ago in front of his mother and me. He was the love of my life, he was born there, lived there, played there, we go there to remember his life and there are people from all around the community who come and decorate and help celebrate the life of a 20 year young man who was loved by many. Please don't let the take the memory of his life away from the the place of his tragic murder. We have petitions being signed as I type this from all around the community. Please help us. Help a mother honor her first born and only son, let his 3 sisters have a happy place to go to to remember their big and only brother.
Signed,
Troy Bible Jr and a mourning community

Many cities are going to the ped mall model. Cumberland has not invited retail there to attract customers. Also, there is more signage needed everywhere to direct peds and visitors to this area. No bike riding on the ped mall. Cyclists can walk their bikes through. Has anyone done a survey to see how many visitors come to the train station and then walk to the ped mall? but why would they come? There are not shops or retail to draw them. The restaurants are trying but need to update their quality and menu items. Before we tear it up and bring more auto congestion there, what fixes have been tried. The dilapidated shopping center next door where we park needs to be updated and modernized to attract visitors and shoppers. So much could be done before we change the model that we already paid millions to create. And what is the garage being used for? Locals say they would use it but it costs! Bringing back road with cars will NOT bring shoppers there are no good retail stores.
