[ARCHIVED] City of Cumberland Phones Temporarily Out of Service

The City’s telephone provider, Lumos, has experienced a catastrophic hardware failure that is causing blockage to the City’s phone lines. As a result of this failure, all offices of the City of Cumberland are currently unable to receive in-coming phone calls or generate out-going calls on land-line phones.

“We’d like the citizens to be aware that the City remains in constant contact with Lumos while they work to resolve this problem,” stated Jeff Rhodes, City Administrator, “and we will provide public notice once the phones lines are functional again.”

In the meantime, citizens may continue to call 911 for emergencies as well as the Cumberland Police Department’s main line at 301-777-1600.

Additionally, citizens may contact City departments via email and email addresses can be obtained through various sites on the City’s webpage: www.ci.cumberland.md.us.
