The swearing-in ceremonies for the newly elected members of the Cumberland City Council will be held Monday, January 7, 2019, at 12:00 p.m., in the rotunda of City Hall. At that time Dawne Lindsey, Clerk of the Circuit Court, will officially swear into office Raymond M. Morriss as Mayor and Seth Bernard and Richard J. “Rock” Cioni as Councilmen. Each will serve a four-year term. The Honorable W. Timothy Finan, Administrative Judge for the Allegany County Circuit Court, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies and Reverent Martha N. Macgill of the Emmanual Episcopal Church will provide the invocation. The ceremonies will be open to the public. Due to the recent election of Councilman David Caporale to the Board of the Allegany County Commissioners, one council seat remains open. Interview of candidates for the open seat will be scheduled for the week of January 7th with an appointment expected by January 15th.
