The City of Cumberland Department of Community Development Staff has released the proposed projects for the 2017-2018 Community Development Block Grant application to the Department of Housing and Urban Development. The City is estimating a grant of $700,000 for purposes of budgeting, though Federal FY 2017 allocations have not been announced. Award amounts are contingent upon the final formula grantee allocation. Project budget proposals will increase or decrease across the board proportionate to an allocation increase or decrease. The recommendations will be presented at the regular Cumberland Mayor and City Council Meeting on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, 6:15 P.M. at Cumberland City Hall, 57 N. Liberty Street. The Mayor and City Council will vote to approve the proposed plan at the regular Mayor and City Council meeting at 6:15 P.M. on Tuesday, April 18,2017. Final approval from HUD could be received as late as October 2017 with funds available as late as December 2017. Written comments from citizens regarding the draft plan should be received no later than 4 P.M.
