Overview
The power and duties of the Zoning Board of Appeals are authorized per Chapter 25, Section 7 of the Municipal Code. The Board consists of 5 members to be appointed by the Mayor and City Council, each for a term of 3 years.
General Powers & Duties
The Zoning Board of Appeals shall meet to hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by the Zoning Administrator in the enforcement, interpretation or administration of the Municipal Code.
Among other duties, they shall hear all challenges to issue of fact or interpretation relative to the Municipal Code or Zoning Map, may authorize variances from the Ordinance, decide on applications for conditional uses, and authorize lawful nonconforming uses.
