The Day of Civility is coming up April 23rd! Join us at the Allegany College of Maryland to take part - details will be updated as we have them!
Joining a number of local organizations, the City of Cumberland is pleased to be a community partner of Allegany County’s Choose Civility program, a grassroots initiative to improve and enrich Allegany County by promoting civil conversations and kindness towards others by practicing these 15 principles:
Assume the best
Respect other people’s time and space
Accept and give constructive criticism
Respect other’s opinions
Accept and give praise
Be a considerate guest
Refrain from idle complaints
Based on the principles of P.M. Forni’s book, Choosing Civility, this program puts into practice rules for connecting effectively with others – at home, at work and in our daily encounters.
